Logistics Sector Skill Council

Capt Ramanujam has had26 years ofdistinguished career in the Indian Navy as a professional Submariner. He has had the honour of Commissioning two Submarines from Soviet Union/ Russia and has Commanded four submarines. He has Commanded the unique,one of a kindSubmarine Training establishment in South Asia wherein he was instrumental in formulating for the first time training programs for Officers of the South African and Vietnamese Navies. He was also responsible for drawing out the requirements for the first ever Nuclear Submarine School and oversaw its construction. He has been awarded the Nao Sena Medal.

He has had varied experience in the Private Sector. He has worked in a Senior Management position responsible for Maritime activity and Projects for a Logistics Company specialising in Container Logistics. He set up an Inland Container Depot at Hassan to cater to the Coffee export from Chikmagalur. He operated a time charter coastal shipping service from Okha to Kochi for Tata Chemicals by containerising bagged cargo. He single-handedly procured ISO containers from China and had them shipped to India with freight cargo. He has been exposed to Transport Fleet Management and helped run a profitable SBU during the recession of 2008. He has planned and operated Transport network and routeing as Head Primary Collection and Transportation of Municipal Solid Waste across over 50 locations for an Environment Company.

 He thereafter served as CEO TVS Training Services Ltd (TVSTS) a start-up Training Company focussed on training entry level staff for the shop floors and up-skilling of existing employees in the Automobile and Engineering sectors.During his tenure TVS TS built up a clientele of over 150 Companies including MNCs from scratch and had the distinction of ensuring 100% client retention. He started a training program for College students making them job ready and thereby ensured 75 % placement in several Engineering Companies. He started a Welding Training Institute certified by Indian Institute of Welding Kolkata and trained candidates as per American Welding Society standards. Trained candidates were placed with MNCs and for ship building at L&T Chennai.

As CEO of the Logistics Sector Skill Council he is leveraging on his strengths of domain knowledge,practical training skills and pan- India exposure to ensure that candidates are imparted training which is relevant to the Industry thereby making them employable quickly.He intends to focus on a) ensuring higher placement percentage of candidates trained under the Flsgship Training Program of the Government of India the Pradhan MantriKaushal VikasYojana and b) commence training of College students for taking up job roles in the mid-management levels. With logistics having International ramification candidates need to be skilled to take up transnational job roles and this challenge, Capt Ramanujam feels could well be an opportunity.
